How to create temporary voice channels with GuildPilot

Auto Voice turns one voice channel into a generator for temporary member-owned rooms. GuildPilot creates the room when someone joins, sends optional controls, and removes the managed room after it becomes empty.

Before you start

• Create a normal voice channel to use as the generator.
• Create a Discord category for generated rooms or plan to use the generator's category.
• The active GuildPilot bot must be able to manage channels, move members and apply channel permission overrides.

Warning: A private generated room changes Discord channel access. Test with a non-staff account so administrator permissions do not hide an incorrect private-room setup.

Set up temporary voice channels

1. Open Auto Voice

Open the server dashboard, select Auto Voice, then choose New auto channel.

2. Select the generator and category

Under Generator configuration, choose the Generator voice channel. For Created channel category, choose a synced category or select Use generator category.

3. Define the generated room

Set Created channel name using the available member or sequence placeholders. Choose a Default member limit; 0 means unlimited.

4. Choose privacy and owner controls

Turn on Create channels as private when only approved members should connect. Enable Send channel dashboard in voice chat to give the owner controls such as Make public, Make private, Change name, Change limit, member access, transfer, kick, ban and unban. Ping channel owner after dashboard is created is optional.

5. Save the generator

Select Create generator. The Auto Voice hub lists the configuration and the number of currently created rooms.

Test the setup

1. Join the generator with a non-staff test account.
2. Confirm that GuildPilot creates a new voice room, moves the account into it and posts the channel dashboard when enabled.
3. Use Change name or Change limit, then verify the Discord channel update.
4. Leave the room and confirm that GuildPilot removes it after it becomes empty.

What a successful setup looks like

Joining the generator creates one managed personal room in the selected category. The owner or server staff can use the dashboard, and the empty room is cleaned up without affecting the generator.

Common problems

The generator is rejected

Cause: The selected channel is not a synced normal voice channel.

Fix: Refresh Discord data in Settings and choose a voice channel rather than a stage channel or category.

A member joins but no room appears

Cause: GuildPilot cannot create a channel or move the member in the selected category.

Fix: Review the bot and category permission overrides, then test the generator again.

A private room looks public during testing

Cause: The tester has Administrator, which bypasses ordinary channel permission overrides.

Fix: Repeat the test with a normal member account that does not have administrator access.

Claim Channel is unavailable

Cause: The current owner is still in the room, or the claimant is not connected to it.

Fix: Wait until the owner leaves, join the managed room, then select Claim Channel.
