Build a polished Discord message with standard embed fields, images and buttons, preview it in the dashboard, and publish it to a text channel.
How to publish a Discord embed with GuildPilot
The Embeds builder creates a saved Discord message without requiring you to format a payload by hand. You can combine plain content, a standard embed and up to five link, self-role or ticket buttons, then preview the result before publishing.
Before you start
- Create the destination text or announcement channel.
- GuildPilot must be able to view the channel, send messages, embed links and attach files when you upload images.
- Create any ticket type or assignable role before adding a corresponding button.
Warning: Deleting a saved published embed also attempts to delete its live Discord message. Check the configuration name and destination before confirming deletion.
Publish an embed
1. Create a configuration
Open the server dashboard, select Embeds, then choose New configuration. Enter a useful Message name and choose the destination Channel.
2. Add message and embed content
Under Message, enter optional Plain message content. Under Embed, configure Author, Title, Description, Color, images, Footer and Show timestamp as required. Uploaded thumbnail and large images must be JPG, PNG or WebP under 5 MB.
3. Add fields when the message needs sections
Under Fields, select Add field. Enter Name and Value, then enable Inline field only for short values that should sit beside one another.
4. Add optional buttons
Under Buttons, select Add button. Choose Link, Self role or a ticket action, provide the required destination, and set the Button label, optional emoji and Button color. The builder supports up to five buttons.
5. Preview and publish
Review the Discord preview and correct any limit warning. Select Publish embed. The configuration remains in Embeds hub so you can edit and republish it later.
Recommended configuration
Use plain message content for mentions that must sit outside the embed. Keep field values short when Inline field is enabled, and add only buttons that serve the message's main outcome.
Test the setup
- Open the destination channel using a normal member account.
- Confirm that the content, embed images and buttons are visible.
- Test each link or interactive button with an account that has the intended role access.
- Remove the test configuration from Embeds hub only if you also intend to remove its live message.
What a successful setup looks like
The chosen Discord channel contains one message matching the dashboard preview. The saved row is marked Published, and reopening it shows the same content and destination.
Common problems
No destination channels are available
Cause: Discord channels are not synced or GuildPilot is no longer installed.
Fix: Run /setup or use Settings → Refresh Discord data, then reload the builder.
The embed limit warning appears
Cause: One field or the combined embed content exceeds a Discord payload limit.
Fix: Shorten the named field shown by the warning, then publish again.
A self-role button has no roles
Cause: GuildPilot lacks Manage Roles or its highest role is below the roles you want to offer.
Fix: Move the GuildPilot role above those roles and refresh the role list.
