How to run Community presidential elections

Community elections choose a ceremonial president for your server. A public board follows nominations, voting, a possible runoff and the result. Voter choices stay private, and live candidate totals are withheld until voting closes.

Before you start

• An administrator must enable wallets and Economy → President.
• Choose membership requirements and a destination. An enabled Economy hub controls the destination for new election boards.

Warning: The president role is ceremonial: choose an ordinary unmanaged role with no permissions, below GuildPilot. Do not give election winners an administrator or moderator role through this feature.

Step by step

/president status

1. Set the election calendar

Open President in the Economy dashboard. Choose the frequency, member eligibility days, optional President role and announcement destination. Review and save the settings. Nominations last 24 hours, followed by 24 hours of voting; ties can trigger a 24-hour runoff.

2. Open the election

The first election opens when the configured schedule is processed. Members run /president status or use the Economy hub to see the current phase. Eligible members can join nominations during the nomination window.

3. Review and submit a vote

During voting, use the vote action to open a private candidate selector. Select a candidate, review the choice and submit it. Selection alone does not cast a vote. You can change your submitted vote until the voting window closes.

4. Follow the board and final result

The same public board displays phase progress and turnout. After closing, inspect the result or any runoff. The dashboard's Post/restore election message restores a missing election board; it does not restart the vote or alter submitted choices.

Test the setup

1. As an administrator, save the destination and check the current election status.
2. During an actual nomination window, use an eligible test member only if you intend them to stand.
3. During voting, choose a candidate privately and verify the review appears before submission. Back out if you do not intend to vote.
4. Confirm the public board shows turnout without exposing live candidate totals. Leave valid election history intact.

What a successful setup looks like

Eligible members can nominate and submit reviewed votes in the correct phase. The board advances without replacing votes, and the result identifies the ceremonial president.

Common problems

A member cannot stand or vote

Check membership duration and the current election phase. Nominations and voting have different eligibility settings and deadlines.

The board or role is missing

Check the channel or role permissions. Restore a missing board from the President dashboard. An existing election keeps its original destination after later hub changes.
