Allow selected image and video sources, remove non-matching posts, and optionally add discussion threads or reactions to accepted media.
How to create a media-only Discord channel with GuildPilot
Image / Video Only keeps a text channel focused on approved media sources while allowing captions beside valid media. GuildPilot removes messages that do not match the saved restrictions and can add a thread or reactions to accepted posts.
Before you start
- Create a text or announcement channel for media.
- Enable Message Content Intent for the active bot in GuildPilot and the Discord Developer Portal.
- GuildPilot needs to view the channel, read messages, manage messages, create threads when selected and add reactions when selected.
Warning: Non-matching member messages are always deleted after this configuration is enabled. Test every allowed source in a private channel before applying it to an active community channel.
Create a media-only channel
1. Open Image / Video Only
Open Moderation → Channel Settings, select Image / Video Only, then choose New configuration.
2. Choose the channel
Enter a Configuration name and select the Channel to restrict. One channel can have only one Channel Settings configuration.
3. Select allowed media sources
Under Restrictions, enable at least one of Allow image attachments, Allow direct image URLs, Allow video attachments, Allow direct video URLs or Allow YouTube URLs.
4. Configure accepted-post actions
Optionally enable Create a thread on an allowed message, provide a Thread name, and enable Add reactions to an allowed message.
5. Enable and save
Keep the setup disabled while reviewing it. When ready, enable the configuration and select Save changes.
Test the setup
- Use a normal member account and post one allowed image with a short caption.
- Confirm that the post remains and receives the selected thread or reactions.
- Post a harmless text-only test message and confirm that GuildPilot removes it.
- Remove the accepted test media and its thread if needed.
What a successful setup looks like
Valid selected media remains in the channel, captions are accepted beside it, and text-only or unsupported media posts are removed.
Common problems
The configuration cannot be enabled
Cause: No media source is allowed or Message Content Intent is disabled.
Fix: Enable at least one source and turn on the intent for the active bot.
A direct link is removed
Cause: The URL does not match an enabled direct-image, direct-video or YouTube source.
Fix: Enable the relevant source or upload the media as an allowed attachment.
Threads or reactions are missing
Cause: GuildPilot lacks the matching channel permission.
Fix: Review the bot's permission overrides for creating threads and adding reactions.
