How to add level reward roles with GuildPilot

Level rewards assign an existing Discord role when a member reaches a configured level. You can keep earlier reward roles or remove lower-tier rewards when a higher tier is reached.

Before you start

  • Create each reward role in Discord.
  • GuildPilot needs Manage Roles.
  • Move the active GuildPilot role above every reward role.
  • Enable the server's leveling system before testing progression.

Warning: Delete previous reward roles at a higher tier removes configured lower-tier reward roles from members when they reach a higher reward. Confirm that this matches your role design before enabling it.

Add level rewards

1. Open Rewards

Open Leveling and select Rewards.

2. Add a reward row

Select Add reward. Under Reward role, choose a synced ordinary Discord role, then enter its Required level.

3. Add further tiers

Create additional reward rows for higher levels. A role can appear only once in the reward list.

4. Choose how earlier rewards behave

Enable Delete previous reward roles at a higher tier only when members should keep the reward for their highest reached tier instead of accumulating every earlier role.

5. Save the rewards

Select Save changes. Any rows beyond the current server quota are shown as paused rather than silently applied; the dashboard displays the current limit.

Use reward roles without administrative permissions. Space tiers far enough apart that each reward represents visible progress, and keep role colours compatible with your existing hierarchy.

Test the setup

  1. Use a designated test member whose XP can be advanced through the normal leveling workflow.
  2. Let the account reach a configured reward level.
  3. Confirm in Discord that GuildPilot assigns the expected role.
  4. Remove the test role manually if the test account should return to its original state.

What a successful setup looks like

Members receive the configured Discord role as they cross its level requirement. When previous-role deletion is enabled, lower configured reward roles are removed at the higher tier.

Common problems

The reward role is not assigned

Cause: GuildPilot's highest role is below the reward role or the bot lacks Manage Roles.

Fix: In Server Settings → Roles, move the active GuildPilot role above the reward role.

A reward row says Paused by the standard limit

Cause: The saved reward count exceeds the current standard quota.

Fix: Remove an unneeded row or activate Premium Pilot. Use the number shown in the dashboard because administrators can change standard quotas.

A role cannot be selected

Cause: The role is managed by another integration, already configured, deleted, or above GuildPilot.

Fix: Choose an ordinary role below GuildPilot and refresh Discord data if the role was created recently.
