How to trade Pilot Markets assets with GuildPilot

Members trade fictional assets with the currency of the current server. A buy uses a maximum total debit including fees, while a sale uses the number of shares; both flows show a preview before confirmation.

Before you start

Pilot Markets must be active in the server, and you must use its configured economy channel. Assets and credits have no cash value, cannot be withdrawn and are not financial products.

Make a trade

1. Check availability and balance

Run:

/market info
/balance

Confirm trading is open and that you have enough available server credits.

2. Research an asset

Use /market view with an optional ticker or company alias, and /market history with a required symbol plus an optional period. The public Live Market page provides another read-only view.

3. Preview a purchase

Run /market buy, choose symbol, and enter cash_amount as the maximum total server credits you allow GuildPilot to debit, including the displayed fee.

4. Preview a sale

Run /market sell, choose symbol, and enter share_quantity as the number of shares to sell. Review the estimated proceeds and fee.

5. Confirm or cancel the preview

Read the asset, quantity, price and fee in the response. Confirm promptly to use the latest valid terms, or cancel without changing the portfolio.

Test the setup

  1. Use a test member with a small expendable server balance. Preview the smallest permitted buy, cancel it and confirm the balance is unchanged. Then complete an approved small trade and verify it in /portfolio history; reverse the position through a normal sale only if server rules permit.

What a successful setup looks like

Research commands show current fictional data, a trade cannot execute without confirmation, and a completed order updates both the server balance and portfolio history exactly once.

Common problems

A buy says the amount is too small or insufficient

Cause: The requested maximum debit cannot cover the minimum trade and fee, or the available balance changed.

Fix: Check /balance, review the preview requirements and enter a valid amount you are willing to spend.

The confirmation reports changed terms

Cause: Market state changed after the preview.

Fix: Request a new preview and decide using the refreshed values.
